my manifesto

16 Apr

Today I am making a decision that will forever change my life. Since I gave my life to Christ when I was 8 I have lived a life half-pursuing Christ, half-pursuing Kara.

I am tired of that way of living. Just really tired of it.

There’s a blog I often read called See Preston Blog and in Preston’s about section, he claims, “I am commited to being exactly who God made me to be, even if at points I’m not thrilled by it.”

I couldn’t agree more. But, I had to come to this point. I had to try my way first and fail [time and time again] so many times that it finally was knocked into my sinful mind that really the only way to go is God’s.

Spurgeon puts it this way:

Normally, I’m not a fan of the message version of the Bible, but today when I was studying Romans I referred to it a couple times. Romans 12:1-2 (Message version) reads:

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

So, today I make that my manifesto – to live my life how God has called me, and for His glory alone.

I wanted to tell you that if you’d like to send me your email address I can add you to the “readers” on my blog for now. It’s not actually down, the privacy settings just had to be altered for a few weeks. But would love to keep up conversation with you in a the blog world 😉

Good luck with graduate school & getting that group exercise cert! 🙂
